The YU Yunicorn reminds me of the Meizu M3 Note that was released a few days back into the country budget smartphone market.
Not completely, but partially, from the front. The back panel looks so similar to its competitors like the Redmi Note 3 and Meizu M3 again.
This metallic phone comes with MediaTek Helio P10 Octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and Mali T-860 GPU. The unit comes with 32GB internal memory on board and is expandable up to 128GB through microSD card.
The device runs on the Android 5.1 based Steroids operating system developed by AppGyver. This dual SIM 4G enabled device works GSM, WCDMA and LTE bands.
It weighs 172gms and measures 8.5mm thickness on the sides which is similar to the next alternatives under this budget, Redmi Note 3 and Meizu M3 Note. There is a reason for this thickness, the massive 4000mAh battery inside the unibody.
Yunicorn comes with 1080p Full HD display covered by the 2.5D glass. The fingerprint scanner just like the Meizu had on its front can store up to 5 finger prints for better and handful security.
YU has crafted rear 13MP PDAF camera with f/2.2 5-element lens and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). The front 5MP shooter is a 4P lens f/2.0 camera with HD video recording capability.
Overall, the phone is impressive but the specifications sounds similar to the Meizu M3 Note which disappointed the market with its low performing hardware combo. The full performance tests are to be wait and watch.
Meanwhile, go through my reviews of the alternatives of Yu Yunicorn, the Redmi Note 3 and Meizu M3 Note. Detailed review will be published very soon.
