The reason why PageRank was introduced is to fasten the process of serving search results much accurately and quickly. That means when someone searches for something on Google, the search engine will go with the relevant keywords on highly ranked websites and the rest later.
We cannot see the time difference of Google serving results on SERP as it would take a fraction of second in doing it.
So, what could have made Google take this epic decision?
What might be the reason behind the killing of PageRank?
Google always tries to serve at its best to its users. In this process, when someone searches for information on Google, the best possible results are served. The introduction of the PageRank and killing of it has the same motive. Not only these, the spam reduction and quality analysis algorithm versions of Panda and Penguin were/are and will work with the same motive, ‘to give the best-related results’.Let us consider a keyword that is most searched on Google. The search engine would prefer to display links from high PR sites moving down to the lowest PR sites and then to the sites with no PR.
That doesn’t mean that blogs with no PR will always get out-listed in SERP. If a page on a blog with zero PageRank is found to be having high-quality content, then Google will consider it primarily though, high PR sites will dominate its persistence.
Most likely in Google perspective – The reason for killing the PageRank that I could smell standing on Google’s shoulder is that it doesn’t want the high-quality content blogs to get dominated by the existence of highly ranked blogs which in turn takes a toll on ‘serving the best’ for users.
It won’t take much effort to show up highly PR blog in SERP whereas for a zero PR blog will strive hard to get shown on the first page. Though the zero PR blog has better content than the high PR blog, it will somehow get suffered by Google unfair discrimination.
To get the prioritized equal to high PR blogs, the zero PR blog must wait for the next PR update by Google.
We know that Google will update Page Ranks hardly 3 times a year, that means the high-quality content blog which is still under ranked will lose the push it deserves and also the user is served with not exact relevant results though existed in Google’s index base.
So as to mitigate the discrimination in the off PR times and to highlight quality content in the search engine results page, Google would have taken the decision.
Will it take a toll on pro blogger’s blogs?
PageRank is dead, that doesn’t mean Google had stopped the process of analyzing and prioritizing high-quality content. It is stopped to eliminate the discriminations among the newly started high-quality content blogs and old high PR cum high-quality content blogs. If a pro blogger’s blog is having high PageRank and he has been creating less quality content than he is used to since the last PR update, he would have to pay the price for it. The just beginner blogger who has been updating his blog with awesome content consistently will get benefitted by this decision.
If a pro blogger, who has been consistent enough in creating quality content in his blog won’t get touched but he would surely get an extra competition in the race.
So, that’s what I saw. Do you see it in any other perspective? Feel free to share it in comments. Thank you!
