Xiaomi, the renowned Chinese smart phone company has released its under 10k handset today as promised. It’s been just a month since Mi3 was released in India and yet the device is being sold like hunger’s bread. The company has already assured about RedMi 1S at the launch event of Mi3 in India and here it is.
RedMi 1S is priced at Rs.5,999 beating the prices of all the budget phones till now. It is well known that this ‘under 10k’ handset custom was initiated by Moto E in the past and tasted success eventually. Later Asus tried its luck with Zenfones and people accepted them with open hearts.
After the release of the Xiaomi’s Mi3, the device went through some negative reputation which was blown away in front of flash sales conducted by Flipkart. The amount of sales have drastically reduced the flipkart affiliate commissions to 0.1% beating the Moto E’s 1% in the past.
The encouragement from Indian market likely to have motivated Xiaomi release their next budget challenge the RedMi 1S today. This device was initially tagged at Rs.6,999 in Xiaomi’s official website but later was reduced to Rs.5,999 which was compelling. Market experts still can’t figure out the reason behind the price reduction before its release yet. They wonder if this was the market trick they were playing behind the mask.
It has got 8GB internal flash memory and can be expandable up to 64GB through eMMC which Mi3 is lacking, the memory expandability. It also features dual SIM(GSM+GSM), the average Indian buyer heart winning feature.
RedMi 1S comes with 8MP camera with 28mm wide angle lens and f/2.2 aperture. It also supports the recording of 1080p HD videos. Front camera is the competition beating feature for RedMi 1S which is lacked in Moto E and one that Asus Zenfone4 had.
Coming to the display, 1S comes with 4.7 inch IPS display that can render 321ppi on the screen and 1280x720 resolution photos and videos on it. The 4.7 inch is the perfect size of the device to handle and carry around.
The connectivity options like Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi direct and USB on the go features are commonly equipped with the handset. We’ll see the full specifications of RedMi 1S in another post clearly.
I am personally waiting for the device and Flipkart still shows the ‘coming soon’ message on the products page. Hope that won’t stay long or it is better to get notified when it is available on Flipkart.
Isn’t RedMi 1S convincing? Go grab one before it goes unavailable till next sale.
