Microsoft Introduces Real Time Multilingual Translation Of Voice Calls On Skype

Now you can talk to any other person on Skype who doesn't knows your language. Microsoft introduces real-time translation of voice calls on Skype and organised a demo in the Code conference today. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella hosted the demo at the conference which is capable of translating voice calls from one language into another in real-time.

This upcoming service uses the communication technology developed by the Skype and Microsoft's Translation teams. You can find communicating easy with the people who don't know your language and the same from other side. You can converse in your own language and Skype translates it into the listeners native or chosen language.

"Sometimes, a dream needs but a nudge to propel it toward reality.

That is exactly what Eric Rudder and Peter Lee delivered to Microsoft’s Machine Translation team about a year ago." Says Microsoft's Research team regarding the language barrier breaking technology.

Eric Rudder, chief of Microsoft's Research team and Peter Lee, head of Microsoft Research are seen in the demonstrations designed to provide fluent and cross-lingual conversations between speakers of two different languages.

“The interesting thing about this project,” Menezes, the head of the Machine Translation Team, Redmond says, “is we’ve got these two fairly complex technologies coming together for the first time to provide this end-to-end user experience.”

As this technology is fairly new, Microsoft is most unlikely to provide this feature as a free service. This kind of technology is demonstrated by China and Japan in the recent past but didn't came into light.

Anyway thanks to Microsoft for bringing this technology and rubbing off language barriers among people around the world. Small and country side businesses are going to get internationalized and that future is so near by.
