Samsung has recently announced its new clone Galaxy J in Taiwan in the end of 2013. The electronic company might be wanted to enter the mobile market in the new year much sooner than any other company does. Samsung’s mobile phones are all look like almost similar in design except a few due to their sizes. As expectable, Galaxy J also comes with the same design and some with some enhanced features too. Let’s peek through the device specifications and enhancements that make this handset stand in a different row when compared to the other Samsung’s devices.
Design
The design of Samsung Galaxy J look as same as its Galaxy family. This phone comes in pale pink, navy blue and white colors which resembles the Nokia’s Lumia series. If we say color phones is the trend, you should also say it was set by Nokia. So this colored panel is a copycat of Nokia’s idea.
The phone is quite flat on the front and back with soft finishing edges. The center physical button on the front is also colored according to its back cover. This isn’t so cool and looks like something is pasted on the phone.
The finishing border is so cool and flat with disguised volume control button on the right and the Micro USB with MHL 2.0 port in usual places.
I’ll give 3.5/5 rating for the design.
Display
Galaxy J is built with HD resolution 440ppi screen of 5’ inch size giving as sharper display as you get on Samsung Galaxy S4. 5 inch display is large enough to watch movies and play 3D games with best experience.
This sharp resolution can play videos of 3840x2160 resolution at 30fps with maximum bit rate of 25 Mbps which is greater than the successful S4.
It’s Super Amoled panel gives the brightest display with the darkest blacks that allows finest visibility in daytimes. This phone comes with Gorilla Glass 3 that resists the device’s screen from scratches.
I’ll give 5/5 for the display and resolution
Processor & RAM
J is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM 8974 processor with 2.3 GHz speed. This is really unremarkable speed and multitasking would be so smooth and fast.
The Qualcomm Adreno 330 GPU runs the graphics smooth and clearly as in Samsung Galaxy S4. Playing HD and 3D games would be so much fun on this gadget.
The days are gone where the smart phones and computing devices are two different electronic gadgets. The computational power now-a-days is replacing the most of the general computer users into smart phone users. Just in the same context Galaxy J is coming up with 3 GB RAM marking a new line in the powerful android devices. This is the first smart phone that comes with 3 GB RAM compared to all the existed expensive smart phones.
I give 5/5 for its performance in processing capabilities.
Software
This newbie is available with Android 4.3 jelly bean and is upgradable to 4.4 Kitkat. The keyboard while typing is so cool and it predicts the text before the word is typed completely. There is a standard predictive keyboard feature and also the predictive swipe one like as in Samsung Galaxy S4.
Camera
Galaxy J comes with 13 MP rear camera along with the LED flash. It have autofocus, image stabilization panorama and continuous shooting features too. It also have 2 MP front camera for video calls and this is enough to take decent selfies.
I give 3/5 for its camera and its features.
Memory
This device is currently available with 16 GB internal storage along with the external SD card support.

Battery
The Lithium-ion 2,600mA-h battery can hold up the charging up to 24 hours for sure. No smart phone battery stays alive more than a day if used moderately. It is better to know how to extend battery life of Android devices.
Wrapping up, this device is not so great as Samsung Galaxy S4. Though it is rumor priced arounf 45k rupees in the Indian market. So I give 3/5 rating of total for Samsung Galaxy J.
Feel free to share your opinions about the Samsung’s new copycat flick.
